Horror Movie Review 2025

It’s been a while… and now that you have that song playing in your head I will continue by saying that it has been a while since I did a Horror Movie Review. I had the opportunity to squeeze in a few movies recently and wanted to write one of my patented reviews! And away we go!

Clown in a Cornfield (2025)

Clowns… Cornfields… Will Sasso as a small town sheriff. How is that not a recipe for a good time? Well to this group of early 20 something year old teens ( because these actors still sort of pass for 17) the cornfields and clowns were not friendly. This movie is your typical girl who moves to a small town and immediately is friends with the cool kids and the “hot” guy is paying her all kinds of attention. Shenanigans ensue, they piss off the wrong clown and people start dying. But what really annoyed me was that the first to die was their black friend who they NEVER WONDERED where he was for the rest of the movie. I suppose if you’re being stalked by a clown. (OR clowns. WHOOPS! Is that a spoiler?) I mean at least be like “Hey where  is Tucker? And why isn’t he at this all teens barn party with no cell service?” Maybe they mentioned that quickly in passing and I missed it. But it should have been a bigger discussion. Just sayin’! This movie did make me burst out into laughter though at a few parts. The first being then running into a farm house to look for a landline but not know how to operate a rotary phone with a dial tone and they were saying it was dead. The second part was when they think one of the clowns is playing dead and the main teen girl makes a sarcastic comment “ Well he’s not meditating. So it was very entertaining. If you like slasher movies like Scream this feels very much in that genre.  6/10

Campfire Tales ( 1997)

Hey, remember the 90s? Well that’s when this was made. The movie revamps urban legends around the campfire in a sort of grown up Are You Afraid of The Dark vibe. You will recognize some known actors like James Marsden, Amy Smart and Ron Livingston. So that was fun. Altogether it was an okay movie. Not particularly gripping. If you have clothes to fold, watch this movie. There did seem to be a trend throughout the stories told within the movie where they blast music and therefore don’t hear the baddies creeping up. There was a bit of a creepy directors choice in the last tale where a 12 year old is getting ready for bed and I guess HAD to be filmed in a towel blow drying her already very dry hair? I mean pajamas would have expressed “ OH! She’s getting ready to go to bed while blasting music” It was just a little odd. The ending had a Goosebumpy twist so watch out! This movie was pretty meh but fun to see known actors early in their careers. 3/10

Kill Me Again (2025)

Roswell superstar, Brendan Fehr, plays a serial killer dubbed the Midnight Mangler who gets caught in a time loop at a diner. He kills a lot of people trying to figure out how to get out of this loop. I do think Brendan Fehr did a great job being a creepy diner patron. Made me feel uncomfortable for the waitress. Also, does Brendan Far have space tattoos? All and all, I found the movie ran a little long but I did enjoy the ending. This was a nice little Horror/ Sci-Fi mashup. (Insert Heat of the moment song and Supernatural reference) I did love seeing Keith Jardine in this movie because he’s one of the few MMA Fighters that I remember. He also wrote and directed it as well! Well done, sir! So this review is pretty short and sweet because I don’t have much I want to give away. But I have to say, you need to enjoy time loop movies. You gotta keep on trying, friends! (because... time loops.)  8/10

Hopefully I’ll be able to do these more often! Hope you enjoyed the read.
